But mine never know how to make their technical toys work. Well, mom can stumble her way through it, but dad is helpless.
He called me yesterday to ask for help sending an audio file in an email. Turns out that he can correctly figured out how to attach the file to his email (YEAH!) but kept getting an error message that said "please submit an appropriate email address" and "address not valid", etc...
Why, you ask? Because he was trying to send the email to http://www.somelawfirmswebaddress.com. Completely true. I could make this shit up.
It took me 20 minutes to get him to understand that an email address had to be someone@something.com. I had to explain it to him like he was three years old. "Dad," I said, "it's just like when you send a letter. If you send a letter to Hometown Road, Hometown USA the Post Office is going to send it back to you because there are about 1,000 people on Hometown Road & they have no idea whom you intend as a recipient. You have to tell them exactly who you want."
Yeah. Wow. I know.
